We were recently announced the top achieving cellar in the 10-Year-Old Wine Report 2021 by, with SIX of our 2011 vintage wines being rated 90-plus.

In the report, it states that “one of the most important measures of great wine is that it should be age-worthy, that it should become more pleasurable and interesting to drink with time in the bottle, and the annual 10-Year-Old Wine Report sets out to examine precisely this”.

The judging panel was chaired by editor, Christian Eedes, and further comprised Roland Peens and James Pietersen, both of Wine Cellar, Cape Town merchants and cellarers of fine wine.

Our Heritage Heroes The Brew Master Bordeaux-style red blend 2011, led by Cabernet Sauvignon, was our best performing wine overall, achieving a score of 93 points and being featured as part of the top 10 list of wines in the report.

Meanwhile, our Two Centuries Cabernet Sauvignon, Heritage Heroes The Motorcycle Marvel Rhône-style red blend and Private Bin Eminence Noble Late Harvest, all of the 2011 vintage, each earned 91 points.

Scores of 90 points were allocated to our Private Bin R163 Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 and Ingenuity Italian Red Blend 2011 that features Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo.

“These outstanding scores are testimony to the longevity of Nederburg’s wines, especially our reds, many of them Cabernet Sauvignons or red blends, as well as our famed sweet wines such as Eminence. All of these wines are an expression of the same pedigree of finesse, harmony and potential to endure for many decades more,” says our managing director, Niël Groenewald.
