Made up of 26 men from around the world, Team Dimension Data’s goal goes far beyond the asphalt. “Our team isn’t only about winning races,” says Douglas Ryder – Team’s team principal, adding, “Our ambition is to put more and more people on bikes. To have the support of South Africa’s most awarded wine brand is so fitting for South Africa’s first ever registered World Tour team in cycling.”
Driven by their mantra ‘we ride to provide’ they have helped thousands blossom, grow and progress through the Qhubeka charity. Qhubeka – a Nguni word that means “to carry on” - helps people move forward and progress by giving bicycles in return for work done to improve communities, the environment or academic results. The impact of bicycles in Africa affects entire communities on a daily basis. As a mobilisation tool they increase the ability to carry heavy loads, travel faster, and achieve more in far less time.
Alongside Team Dimension Data and Qhubeka, Nederburg are excited to empower and mobilise more communities throughout Africa. So that they too can forge their own future and realise their dreams.
